Google finally has added a smooth swipe gesture for toggling between accounts swiftly In Android. In addition, the Gmail team has also added a dark theme mode and it seems to be classy and bold.

And those who are thinking that why only Android and not iOS, let me make you a liitle happy by saying that this latest feature has already been made available to iOS users.

The first one to discover the addition of this gesture was Android Police. The announcement was officially made at the Google I/O 2019 developer conference on 18.08.2019. The update is rolling out slowly on Google Play Store and I know Android users are eagerly waiting to check out this feature as it enhances the usability of Gmail. 

The latest version of Gmail is 2019.08.18. 

In simple terms, you have to swipe up or swipe down on your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen to smoothly switch between your accounts or you can also tap on your profile picture to choose from a list of your Gmail accounts like before.

How to toggle between your Gmail accounts by a single swipe

This is as simple as it could be. To operate the new account switch gesture you would need to at least stay signed in 2 of your accounts on your phone. Android users have to go to the device setting menu in order to do this. The iPhone and iPad users are enabled to add additional google accounts with the help of Google App.

After the update, Go to the mail and add other accounts that you hold.

Once you are done with the primary stuff you can go to Gmail and check your account’s profile icon just on the right corner of the search bar.

To switch accounts quickly just keep your finger on the avatar image and swipe downward. The account you want will come up when your scrawl down by swiping.

And if you are not okay with the account switching option, you can click on the Avatar to check all other accounts that you hold.

Now a window will come up and you will have other options to take control of such as a new menu for switching accounts, managing the old ones and also adding new accounts.

Google also said that it is trying to blend this account switching feature in other apps that it has. And he also confirmed that Giant tech companies like Google, Youtube, and many others will notice this by the end of the first half of  2019.

This new update of Gmail has also helped emerge a new darkened theme in the system and users have started liking it since the month of June, but certain review said the dark mode can only be applied only in the inbox but not in the body of the emails.
